Ok, I haven’t blogged on the campaign in a while, so here we go.
1. John Edwards has finally endorsed Barack Obama.
What took so long? I’m not sure how much it means now, and thought he would throw an endorsement out while it was still important. I guess it is still important now, but not as important as Super Tuesday (The real one). I wonder what role Edwards would play in an Obama cabinet.

2. Barack Obama takes the time to call local news reporters.
A local reporter was asking Obama a question in which he responded “Hold on one second sweetie” and trailed off, in what I imagine was him trying to say that they’d have interviews later on. For whatever reason, he never got around to being interviewed by her. He was interviewed by another local reporter instead.
So, Barack, being the gentlemen he is, called this news reporter at her home. He apologized for not answering the question (saying that he thought there would be interviews later, when there weren’t). He also apologized for calling her sweetie, saying it was a bad habit, and meant no disrespect.
Amazing to see a news story end in people being rational.

3. Women for Hillary…
I was reading over a blog this morning urging Hillary not to quit the race. The writer stated that people are hurting the Democratic party by stating that Hillary should quit.
Actually, no. Hillary is hurting the Democratic party by continuing to throw negative attacks at the person (notice I say person, not man) who will be the Democratic nominee. If Hillary wants to stay in the race, by all means go ahead. But do it peacefully. Her negative attacks only hurt the Democrats more in November.
The race is over, sorry. It was over 2 1/2 months ago, but people want to pretend that math doesn’t exist. After Obama went on his streak of wins, Hillary would have needed 65% of the votes in every state to pass him in pledged delegates. That was the end of the race. Sit here and say “it isn’t over, it isn’t over”, fine with me, but it is. I invite anybody to come back and tell me it wasn’t if Hillary wins.
The writer does bring up a point about the media hurting the party, however the media is going to hurt BOTH parties, that’s what it does. However, you can’t say Obama is hurting the party. It’s hard to do that when you are the winning candidate and running a rather positive campaign.
I was actually surprised, I constantly fear the women who are supporting Hillary because she is a woman. The one’s who I know who say if Hillary doesn’t get the nomination they’ll vote McCain, or not at all. I’m sorry, but anybody who would vote McCain isn’t a Democrat, and anyone who would not vote, that speaks for itself.
I understand why women would want to support a woman for President, but it’s not like John Smith is the other candidate. Both are historic, and both will eventually have their time.
Note: I hope I did not offend anyone with my last rant. My gripe with the “women for Hillary” thing is a bit more personalized that rationalized. I know women who are like this, but it does not mean all are. I just wish EVERYONE would sit back and ask themselves who the best candidate is, without looking at race or gender. If you say you hate Obama, but can’t tell me why, that’s a serious cop out. And the same for Hillary, but by all means, say you hate McCain.
